Living in harmony with nature, the Japanese spirit
Incorporating flowers into your life is not just about decoration; it is about living in harmony with nature and valuing Japanese culture and spirituality.
Since ancient times, Japanese people have made use of familiar plants and flowers in their daily lives and have lived while feeling the changing of the seasons.
They know the seasons from the flowers that bloom by the roadside, use wild herbs as medicine, and find calm in the sound of leaves rustling in the wind.
This attitude is at the root of the Japanese relationship with flowers.
However, in modern times, flowers have become something to be "managed" and "consumed," and flowers that have been bred to last longer are now on the shelves. As a result of this lifestyle, it seems that we have gradually started to pay less attention to nameless flowers by the roadside.

The word "Honshoka".
Based on the idea of botany, we wanted to regain the perspective of enjoying flowers and plants that are rooted in the Japanese climate and make the most of them in our daily lives. This phrase was created with this wish in mind. Flowers and plants are flowers that are born from nature in Japan, and are not just for decoration, but are a part of our lives.
Honshoka flowers have been a part of our daily lives since ancient times, in gardens, fields, rice paddy paths, and the grounds of old shrines.
For example, in spring, plum blossoms and cherry blossoms add color, while yamabuki, safflowers, rape blossoms and horsetails bloom in the fields. In summer, hydrangeas, bellflowers and dianthus sway in the breeze, while lady's mantle and ginger flowers gently rise up. In autumn, bush clover, angelica, and wild chrysanthemums quietly bloom. In winter, camellias, daffodils and nandinas show off their dignified beauty even in the cold.
These are not just flowers, they carry seasonal memories and resonate in our hearts.
本草花という言葉
Modern flowers have been cultivated with an emphasis on shape, color, and longevity, but traditional herbal flowers bloom naturally, in harmony with the climate and soil of the land. There is an unadulterated beauty in this.
Living with herbs and flowers reminds us of the sense of being one with nature and helps us regain a sense of spiritual richness in the midst of busy modern life.
If you come across a small flower by the roadside, try picking it up. It will not just be there blooming, but it will also tell you about the seasons and memories of the land of Japan.
